Perspective is Everything

The perspectives we choose each day have a great bearing on how we view the world and ourselves. Proverbs 23:7 says, "as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he." It's easy to see the things in a negative light when our view is entirely based on our circumstances and how things are presented by the various media which bombard our eyes and ears every day. Several years ago our youngest son Carsyn went to the window and said, "dad, you gotta come see this!".  I went expecting to see maybe a big buck or some other type of animal.  Went I got to the window, he said, "look at what a beautiful day God has made!". There was nothing exceptional to me as I looked out the window, but I was reminded that in Genesis 1 several times the scripture says about the earth, "and God saw that it was good." Even though sin has marred the world, it's still God's world, and He said that "it was good." At some point in our lives, we all will experience pain, heartache, and difficult circumstances. Knowing this, it is imperative that we draw closer each day to the Lord and to other believers so that we can be sustained during the difficult times. As far as looking out the window goes, even on a stormy night, is not the lightning beautiful? May we all strive to have the same perspective that God does in all things.
